This policy was approved by the board in 4 December 2006.
Workgroups may start arbitrary websites on non-FFII infrastructure, on the basis of cost, expediency, or flexibility, etc. They must, however, ask for board approval to use the FFII name and/or logo on such sites. This is subject to continuous review by the board, which can at any time revoke the permission to use the FFII name and/or logo.
Although not explicitly mentioned in the decision, it is believed that using the ffii.org domain for such web sites falls in the same rules as the usage of FFII name and/or logo; that is, board approval is required. See a thread with subject "HTTPS certificate expired" in the [ffii:listinfo:polis-parl polis-parl mailing list], starting on 28 February 2007; particularly messages by Hintjens, Christofides, Hintjens, and Vuorio.
